What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda is the earliest health care system of India dating back over 6,000 years ago.

The name “Ayurveda” is derived from two words in Sanskrit, “ayuh” meaning “life” or “longevity” and “veda” meaning “science” or “sacred” knowledge.” Ayurveda therefore roughly translates into “the science of longevity” or “the science of life.”

The fundamentals of Ayurveda can be found in Hindu scriptures called the Vedas.

Ayurveda is a complete way of life. It doesn't just help us treating sickness but also prevents disease and enhances our health, bringing more vitality and longevity. Modern medicine tends to mainly mask the painful symptoms with painkillers, however, Ayurveda uses the symptoms to diagnose the root cause of the problem, and then deals directly with the root. The goal of Ayurveda is to achieve sustainable harmony and balance in our daily living.

To cure ailments permanently Ayurveda uses Panchakarma as detox method, herbal preparations, correct food as medicine, yoga as therapy and much more.

Health is a state of total balance between the body, mind, senses, and the soul.

According to Ayurveda the wealth of your life is measured by the vital energy that gives you stable mental and physical health. Ayurveda is about living life according to nature's design, therefore, any actions that contradict nature will eventually result in poor health. If we were to become more observant and aware of how the other living creatures live in the world, we could see that they live completely attuned to nature, they live in harmony with it.

When we adopt holistic approach to health, take care of our physical, mental, and spiritual development we experience a more vital, energetic and fulfilling life.
